Leitner's System is a memory tool devised by Sebastian Leitner in 1972 that makes use of flashcards to memorize words or phrases. It represents a simple application of the principle of spaced repetition, which involves reviewing cards at progressively longer intervals.

The Hand Computer app aims to replicate the Leitner system and serves as an uncomplicated, convenient, and efficient memory aid for language learners or anyone seeking assistance in studying and retaining information from various subjects.

When encountering unfamiliar words, phrases, or equations, users can create cards after memorization and place them in the initial compartment. These cards from the first compartment should be reviewed several times daily. Cards that are remembered should be shifted to the next compartment, while forgotten items should be returned.

After a few days or when the second compartment reaches capacity, a review of those cards is recommended. If any details have been forgotten, they should be moved back to the first compartment. The optimized capacity of each compartment enhances memory recall efficiency, with the frequency of card review progressively increasing as they progress through the compartments for improved learning outcomes.

The final compartment accommodates an unrestricted number of cards; however, periodic reviews are encouraged for optimal retention.
